Never fear, no one knew everything when they first started! You have definitely chosen a great career path, and while it won’t be entirely easy, as there is no grade inflation among engineering students and courses, doing your degree from home will make it a little simpler.

Engineers are in Demand!

You have chosen a course that has a high demand in the job market. Good engineers are almost never unemployed, because they have the most to do with the country’s infrastructure! That includes bridge construction, skyscraper construction, roads, tunnels, aircraft hangers, and many, many more. The world simply cannot do without it’s engineers in this day and age, and as such, they make an impressive amount of money, which is in the range of $40,000 per year at a minimum, and even higher for other types of engineers.

Not only have you decided to become an engineer, you’ve decided to look into some online engineering courses, which will make your life a whole lot easier. In taking an online course, you’ll have access to a wide range of material online that you might not have in a classroom environment, you’ll be able to study by yourself, instead of in a noisy room full of people, which is a plus if you do your best work alone. You also have the luxury of attending class any time you want, and best of all, you can go to class in your pajamas!

There are many schools offering these courses online, including MIT, and Berkley, and they offer a wide range of courses including:

Mechanical Engineering

A field dedicated to machinery, how it works, and how to fix it when it breaks down, a very useful field of study, as nearly all industries use some kind of construction equipment, like cranes, forklifts, sky tracks, and many others that will need to be fixed, you’ll also learn to service machinery that is used inside factories, which must be kept running at all times in order to keep production up. This degree can be completed in as little as four years, which is fairly short when you consider how long a doctor must attend school!

Industrial Engineering

This field helps businesses learn how to best manage their resources to have the greatest impact in their given industry, from ergonomics, to process engineering, to management science, this is one field no industry can be without, and a degree of this type can be obtained in about three years.

Civil Engineering

Civil Engineers are the ones that are responsible for all the huge buildings you see in the major cities, which includes the Sears Tower in Chicago, the Empire State Building in New York, and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransisco. Without these engineers, we would still be living in four story buildings, and probably be using horse drawn carts. Wouldn’t you like to be one of these people who work every day to revolutionize our world? Go for it, you can become one in about four to five years, and it’s completely worth it.

Electrical Engineering

Electrical lines, transformers, circuit boards-the veins and arteries of our society, and the engineers that everyone counts on to make the blood flow. The time to complete this type of degree is four to five years, so not very long, when you consider you’re setting yourself up for the rest of your life.

Job Prospects

When you complete this degree, you can expect to find yourself in fields like, architecture, which entails bridge design, skyscraper design, and other types of structures, you may also find yourself working on electrical lines far above major cities, which is an experience anyone would want to have, so why not? Look into an online engineering degree today, and get on with your future!
